My tire pressure is at 30psi each, granted is has been a little cold, but as soon as my foot hits the floor im spinning from 1st through 3rd. I feel like I can never open the car all the way up without worrying about traction. Does anyone else have problem? Could my car just be putting down alot of power stock?
6k miles on them...they have plenty of tread left. I have noticed this ever since I bought the car. Some may say that its due to salt, but NC doesnt know what a salt truck is - hence no salt minus the highways.
Does the spinning of the tires happen when you have it engaged?
I spin too without the Competive Feature engaged when I put the pedal to the medal. Maybe you will see less spinning with it engaged like I do. Just a thought!
This is a very common problem. In all likelihood, you are feeling the effects of the low temperature. The SC tires have relatively poor traction in the cold weather, even when it's as high as the 50s. I took a little spin this morning to enjoy yet another beautiful Southern California day. It was 56 degrees out, and I still had traction problems from 1st to 3rd, just like you describe. Wait for a warmer day and try it again. If you're still having problems, you might want to consider getting your wheel alignment checked, or consider releasing the clutch differently. I have found that feathering the clutch a bit at launch and in between gears can really help out. Good luck.

:iagree: If the sun isn't heating up the road, you not only have to worry about straighline traction, but going sideways is way too easy. :yesnod:

let me get this straight: you have a car with 400 ft lbs of torque and 405 bhp, you do full throttle acceleration in the 1st 3 gears on a cold day and you wonder why the wheels spin???
dude, you must be putting down a lot of power stock!

Actually Competetive Driving mode keeps the Active Handling engaged and Traction Control off so I dont see how this will help with his problem.
BTW the expression is pedal to the metal...not medal :D
No traction here in 1st or 2nd, don't even bother putting it in 1st to floor it anymore...2600 mostly easy miles on them. Perhaps the 20 degree temperatures have something to do with it....not that i'm driving the car in this snow!
Yup! mikeo and lager99 are right, or the same thing is happening to me also.

I have to agree with everyone here; the colder temps are likely the culprit. It's a double whammy; your car makes better horse power in cold air while the tire temps being lower aren't condusive to good bite. Try lower rpm starts until you feel the tires grab and then throttle up evenly from there. Competitive mode allows for the active handling to stay on but traction control goes off allowing the wheels to spin so that won't be an advantage in cooler temps. Practice makes perfect. Have fun, but be safe.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. American power and ok tires  not the best combo, but heck, gotta love the Z :jester
The tires are much better than ok. They simply need to be hot for good grip. Cold road has an effect too, but cold tires are the major culprit. There's always a trade-off for high performance. In this case, we have great track tires but sacrifice the all-around tire performance.

This is true, the Competition Driving mode will not help with this situation at all. Actually, it could make it much worse since traction control is off in this mode.
The Eagle F1 SC is a great tire, but it needs some heat for it to stick. When the spring comes around your car will get a lot more traction. Put a little heat into the tires and the car will rocket off the line very hard.
I never had any traction problems over the summer, and I never have TC on (only active handling). Now, it's not just some wheelspin in 1st and then it eventually hooks...it *never* hooks. I could floor it, and let off the gas hoping it will hook and go, but it never will. Same with 2nd gear, just spinning and spinning forever, accompanied by some wheelhop and side to side swinging. Oh well...3rd gear it is!
I've driven it when the roads were cold and the temp was below freezing, there is not traction at all in first gear, second gear would still break loose too. Got a little better when it was 53 degrees and sunny but first gear still spun a bit.
I have the same problem in Kentucky this time of year. I don't think there is much you can do about it when the roads are this cold. Sometimes it's kinda fun though once you get use to it. Hank
I can only add that I have a similar problem when it is warm out -
At Beech Bend with 26lbs in the rears, I spin in 1 and 2 resulting in 2.2 60' times.
The car has enough brutality lurking under-hood as to require a practiced technique in the lower gears. This is exacerbated when it is under 50 degrees.
