I don't think 1/10 of an ounce would make much of a difference. I have chromed caps and the car is still aligned very well. You never know though. I had my tires balanced with the stem caps already on. Good question.

I've gone around and around on this one with the guys that do my balancing. My 03 Escalade has the roughest ride since I put the 20's on it and the balance just doesn't seem to last, so I got in to a discussion with these guys (it's what they do for a living) and they went so far as to say that since today's dynamic spin balancers measure (supposedly) down to an ounce, that picking up a rock in your treads and or having one in the treads at the time of balance could effect the overall vibration more so than a perfectly new tire on a perfectly clean rim. So, now when they remove the tires, after they check the thread for damage and uneven wear, I take a minute and clean the inside of the rims before they spin balance.....is it all worth it? Who knows?...but we do what we gotta do to sleep at night.
