I didnt see this coming when I ordered the CAGS defeat..but I'm going to have to get under the car to put it on..anyone have any suggestions to getting under the car without jacking it? I'd rather not ding the frame up this soon :cry
I backed mine up on some Rhino Ramps. Make sure to take every safety precaution, block the front wheels, let the car cool, and wear a long sleeve shirt, those exhaust pipes can hold heat for a while. Oh and don't forget good lighting. Once I got up under the car, located the CAGS it took about 2 minutes to un-plug the wiring harness, plug in the CAGS elminator and use the ties to hold the dangling assembly away from items.
That's it very easy and well worth the $20 and time.
I'd call this a two beer job on my scale of 1 to 99.
Yep, 2nd day I had the car I jacked up the front of the car, crawled under there and couldn't figure out for the life of me where that damn thing was. Got back on the net and what the heck, the thing is in the rear of the car. Hmmm, on the Camaro where I stole my CAG it was on the front. Go back out, let down the front, jack up the back and try again. :banghead:
Its on the driver side at the rear, on the driver side of the transmission. My 2004 had the wire labeled with a big white paper tag that read "CAGS".....almost like GM new I'd be looking for it
I would think that if you could find a tall curb to hang the azz off you may be able to do it. Although...its located about half way up the side of the transmission. I did mine when it was on a lift getting the Borlas installed. Took me 15 seconds to locate the wire and about 15 seconds to install. Very easy and its idiot proof.
I would reccomend disconnecting the negative side of the battery just to be safe. Never can be to careful with electronics :smash:
Well, I got a pair of rhino ramps today and backed the car on. The lift was little enough that there was no worry about rubbing the nose of the car.
I really wish I had of paid more attention about the transmission being at the back, because I spent about 10 minutes b1tching about how there was not enough room to get under where the tramission is (or so I thought) :banghead:
So anyway, I got that sucker installed tonight, works great :steering:
Congrats on the accomplishment. It is one of the easiest and most satisfying mods that can be done and it's cheap in the grand scheme of corvette modding.

Good job. I did the same thing as you, backed onto ramps slowly while my wife watched the nose. No prob with standard ride height. Lowered, it would be a different story. I was able to crawl in from behind and complete the job easily. Welcome aboard!! :hurray:
What's nice about this mod is that it elminates any computer interference with driving a manual transmission. If I wanted a computer to do my gear pickin I'd have bought a A4.
