ever since i installed my ccw's ive been hearing rocks fly everywhere. anyone else notice this i have a ton of little rock chips behind the rear wheels, since install.
I hear them on mine...havent seen any. I know one thing, you cant keep it clean, there too wide and when you take off it thows stuff all over your car. O well they sure do look good.
I was thinking that the stock Goodyear supercar tires throw less rocks because as you move towards the outside of the tire, there is less of a thread pattern. This is just my theory, but it sounds sound...
I also have this problem with my CCW's and Pirelli's...Here in South Florida, where just about every road is under construction, its hard to avoid...In fact I am looking for a shop that will polich these wheels a few times a year....from what I understand, its expensive, but worth it...... Of course I could just drive up to Daytona to John, but I dont want to put on all the mileage.... I think its just something we all have to live with!
Go to FLITZ.COM and they have a pollishing ball that goes on a drill, you simply wash your wheels, dry them, put there pollish on there and just use the ball to pollish away, it was easy and took about an hour and they looked really good.
anyone else know a good way to pollish them?
What about repair of chipped areas....just bite the bullet and pay...costing me $499 right now to fix 2002 back to showroom shape...the problem areas for me are behind front wheels. Looking at CLeartastic...Zano anything to prevent damage. Even may fabricate my own little clear splash guards and attach to 2 fasteners available behind tire. Not sure what to do, but costs more to keep looking nice than to insure!
It is the big 19 inch tires you guys got back there. If you think the regular tires are throwing up rocks, slap some DRs on there and it will be even worse..
My damage is behind the front wheels, on the rocker panels, on the lower doors and behind the rear wheels. Mostly sand damage from driving in Sandy areas. Cleartastic only covers a small portion of the areas exposed to road debris. A product on the market that covers those areas is StonGard.

Thanks for the advise...sorry it took so long to repond..I will look up that site...my problem is that I live in a condo and have nowhere to work on my car.....I love my CCW's and try my best to keep them looking new but its a battle....now, some idiot who was cleaning my car put some solution on the wheels and discolored them...I finally found a product, a polish not wax that looks like a brillo pad, and that did the trick, but it took forever.... again, thanks for the info!!
