[Z06] need input on hooking up
The tires have a VERY short sidewall, which has NO flex vertically, which is critical for decent lateral grip. Also, the larger rotating mass of the rims doesnÂ’t help either.
Serious draggers usually go with a 17" rim. It gives them that much needed flex, and a shorter rotating mass.
IMO, a 18" rims give you the best blend between lateral & straight line grip.
Put on a set of DR's, or if your concerned with stability on the road, something like a road racing tire like the newly released Nitto 555RII's.
They will grip subtantially better than any road tire, and also offer excellent road grip and handling.

Well... generally I'll take a girl out to a nice dinner (make sure you drive the Vette and it's waxed) then out for some drinks. Make sure you say nice things to her throughout the date (compliments) and then take her back to your place. Put on some sweet music and light some candles and make sure your bed is clean and made (use a hot-tub if you have one!) This usually works for me :jester
I do not see the performance advantage of 19's.
I have asked here many times what the performance advantage over 18's is.
So far no one has given an answer other than they look better which IMO is not a performance advantage.
I find the lack of tire choices to be the #1 reason for NOT going with 19's.
If you want to hook up get some 18" BFG g-force DRs for the strip.
Get some 18" BFG g-Force KDs for the street/roadcourse.
Good luck.
Here are a few suggestions-
1. stop flooring the gas pedal when you take off
2. drop your rear tire pressure down to 24 pounds, and increase your front tire pressure up to 40 pounds. You don't have to do a long burn out, but your tires should be heated up, you can simply "spin" your rear tires off to get the rocks out of em.
3. put your left foot all the way into the clutch and rev your motor up to say, 3500 rpms. Now very slowly let up your left foot until you "feel" the car wanting to move forward....this is the spot you have to learn how to control when your racing.
an very good, aggressive racer can launch his car at 5500 rpms, given track conditions of course.
The trick is to take off from this point with maximum exelleration and minmum tire screeh.
get into the habit of doing this at stop lights and launching your car at the strip will become second nature...I GUARANTEE IT ! :)
good luck!
