Im new to the corvette world and new to the forum. i bought my z about 4 weeks ago and baugt new matts and a cags defeat and want to change the intake. i see a million and one intake systems out there what is the best way to go?????
I went with the Halltech TRAP after doing the research on this forum and a few other vette forums. The Vararam and the TRAP are both good ways to go. The Blackwing is also very popular particularly if you're on a budget.

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forum. There is no simple answer to what is best in intakes. Some require vehicle modification, some yeild slightly better results than others and some are more expensive than others. Read as much as you can and talk with vendors about their product. Surely one will make you say, "That's the one I want". Enjoy the car and take your time deciding on mods.

Re: what intake???? (yellow04z)
Actually one of the toughest questions to answer. Do the search as listed above. What ever you chose a month down the road you will want something else!
Actually this is an easy question to answer. I assume you are just talking about putting an expensive air cleaner and pipe to the intake.
Is your Vette air starved? I am not aware of any 2001 - 4 Z06 that has an air starvation problem in stock trim. Thus the fancy, expensive air cleaners are simply a foolish way to **** away your money.
If you feel your car is air starved, how about taking the top of the stock air box, exposing completely the stock air cleaner input side and use a bungy cord to hold it in place.
There are a lot of people out there selling snake oil which they allege improves your cars performance - beware.
