Does cutting the bushings to lower the car void the warranty? Can it be
reversed? I've had it five days and already I've lowered it on stock bolts and
removed the BSM. I would like to drop it another inch or so, but I cannot
afford to void the warranty. Is going this low a bad idea for a daily driver?
Will the ride be adversely affected? Does doing this always require a
realignment? Thanks.
Re: Yet another question about lowering... (2002c5blackcoupe)
Go with the aftermarket lowering bolts from West Coast Corvettes. They will do the job for you and won't void the warranty. Once you start cutting stuff, you Chevy dealer might not honor the warranty if something should happen. Each dealer is different. Why, I don't know. GM pays for it and its profit in their pockets.

Does cutting the bushings to lower the car void the warranty? not really, it can..however you would have to buy new bushings to return to stock....... Can it be
reversed? no, once cut, they're cut. I've had it five days and already I've lowered it on stock bolts and
removed the BSM. I would like to drop it another inch or so, but I cannot
afford to void the warranty.get an aftermarket lowering bolts you can get up to an inch and half of drop, but dont cut the bushings..... Is going this low a bad idea for a daily driver?ride quality will worsen, you'll feel more bumpns on the road and you WILL high center on large speedbumps and bottom out.
Will the ride be adversely affected? yes Does doing this always require a
realignment? not always, but check to be sure....Thanks.
Re: Yet another question about lowering... (2002c5blackcoupe)
Longer bolts only apply to lowering the rear. If you really want to sit it down you'll have to cut the bushings. I don't see how this could possibly void any part of your warranty. Also, you will need to get a 4 wheel alignment.
Re: Yet another question about lowering... (2002c5blackcoupe)
My coupe is lowered on stock bolts & bushings. It's a daily driver, and honestly, I wouldn't want it any lower. It's hard enough just getting in and out of my driveway as it is....
Re: Yet another question about lowering... (redzone)
I agree. I spoke to the Corvette specialist Tech here in Houston (Motorsport
Technologies, Inc.), and he said that you have to cut the bushings. He also
said he doesn't like doing it because you end up rubbing metal to metal. He
said he hates doing that to any car, much less to a new one like mine.
Needless to say, he didn't recommend that I go any lower than what's
already been done by turning the stock bolts. So, since I respect his work
and opinion, I won't be going any lower. Besides, the car looks "right" now.
I wanted that ultra muscle car look but not at the expense of voiding my
warranty. My pockets aren't deep enough for that.
Re: Yet another question about lowering... (2002c5blackcoupe)
I checked mine and there is no metal to metal problem visable how much are you suppose to take off, i turned the nut out leaving 2 visable threads and cut some of the bushings and I have an inch and a quarter between fender and tire looks great I just need to lower the front another half inch.
