Default Twilight sentinel install question (panel removal)

The installation instructions at http://www.stopforce.com/RPO.html do not tell in detail which of the two panels under the steering wheel that needs to be removed. I have found a lot of info on how to remove the panel that is closer to the steering wheel (the one that is attached with 4 torx screws with two of them hidden). However, I have not found any info on how to remove the panel farther back, closer to the pedals.

Could somebody please answer these two questions:

-Do I need to remove both the panels under the steering wheel? If not, which one should I remove for best/easiest access?
-How is the panel farther back attached? How can it be removed?

Thanks a bunch! :flag

i just did this only removed the bottom panel which has the light in it. mine just pulled off except near the firewall but i had enough play to reach in there and get the harness. it the same panel one would remove to complete installing european taillights.

I'm not flaming you, just curious. Why would you want twilight sentinel? It's very obtrusive and causes unecessary wear on the headlight door motors.

Just to have the option. I really don't know if I will like it or not. Now that I don't have the option, it's bugging me and I want it :D

:withstupid:

I have it on my daily driver and I do not use it. I know when I want my lights on & off and this feature does not always agree with me.

I also wanted this option but then realized it would just get in the way. It really is a pointless option.

It is likely that I will agree once I have that option. :jester

Installing the twilight option is just something I want to do "on-the-fly" as the required T82 option programming can be done at the same time as I'm getting the tire pressure sensors enabled. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm getting the pressure sensors, I definitely would not bother with the twilight option...

Agreed...I pulled the knee bolster panel off w/ the torx screws, but in retrospect, this was unnecessary.

I like the T82 function....kinda cool when driving at sunset, and I've been spoiled by this feature in my other cars.

Am I correct in assuming that you did this to your 04 Z06? And you found the wire allright? Good to hear, because I was a bit worried that the wire might not be there as a few other connectors like the AUX-power connector allegedly is missing in 04's...

Yes, I was also worried about changes for 2004, but the connector was there! Took a while to find it, though....

Good luck!

Allright, the toe kick panel pulled off easily. However, I could not find the connector. I looked mostly on the right side of the steering column, and could only see those black wiring harnesses. No wires hanging loose except for a green+white wire pair with a yellow connector that was already in use (probably airbag system?). I did not see a black connector or a green+yellow pair of wires...

Was I looking in the wrong place? On what side of the steering column did you find the wire?

Thanks!

I believe it was to the right of the column...took me quite a while to find it...but don't worry, it IS there!

Good luck.

If I am understanding your original question, the close-out panel in front of the knee bolster is held on by a couple of through-hole expansion pins. Just give it a yank and it'll pop loose...
