I am not sure if I hit the rev limiter. I got severe engine shut down for about 1 to 2 seconds while staying with a Roush Mustang in second gear. I just need to know if this is the reaction of the rev limiter or do I have other problems. I honestly was not paying close attention to the tach. This is the second time this happened. It almost feels like the gas flow was interrupted.
:iagree: The gears are short on the Z and especially first and second. You rev up to redline in a hurry, particularly in the heat of 'battle' when you aren't looking at the tach. If traction control was on and it was thwarting any tire spin, it could have enhanced the feeling you got even more. :)
Rousch is basically an exhaust and a body kit.
Do not be afraid.
unless it's modded, of course. :)
The rev limiter and traction control are two different feelings, you'll pretty much hear the rev limiter as a "rap-ap-ap-ap-ap" sound at the top of the RPM range. If traction control kicks in, it feels more like the car stumbles, and that can happen at lower RPM's.
If you hold down the active handling button for 5 seconds, you can turn off traction control while leaving active handling on ("competitive driving" mode)

Rev limiter. I remember the first couple of times I hit it when I first got the car. Thought I damaged the car. Felt like something broke, then the car "came back". Now I'm more used to the car and haven't hit it since.
i took a saleen last week-at the top of 2nd gear, i had him by at least a car length-and unless it was a 'stage 3 "roush it should be about the same-an easy kill...rev limiter comes quick-but if you are in TC- the z will sorta "bog" after a quick shift..make sure your TC is off if your gonna play....and be safe and have fun :D

Sounds like the rev limiter to me.

You need to pay more attention to your tach, especially in a race. Missing your shift points can/will cost you many a race!!!!!!
It can also cost you your engine!! :D
Sounds like the limiter, I bang off mine all the time road racing - doesn't hurt a thing but in a short race it will cost you time, so practice some more.
