Well, I bought my first new car today. Its a red Z06. Break in period right now, but soon it will be time to DRIVE. I look forward to hanging out on this forum. :seeya
I'm curious to know why you chose to get an 04 instead of waiting for the C6. Not saying it's the wrong move at all, just was wondering what factors you considered.
I am considering getting some of the static cling plastic to put on the backs of the wheel wells because it looks like the tires are going to throw some serious rocks up sticking out as far as they do. Anyone use these? Is the "kit" worth $70? Are there any other precautionary measures I should take before the car hits the streets and the track?
When I shut the car off and close the door, the guages stay lit for about 15 seconds, and then the lights in the door panels stay lit for about 15 seconds after that. Is that normal? The owners manual simply stated that the interior lights may stay on for a while after the doors are locked and security armed.
Anything else I should know that you wish you knew when you bought yours?
BTW, to answer the post above, the reason I went with the 04 is because I got a good deal on it and the Z06 has more horsepower than the 05 will. I could have waited for the 06 Z06, but it sounds like that is going to be a very expensive car (GM plans on making it much more different than the C6 than what the current Z06 is from the C5, ie kind of like the ZR1 from the C4, which means big $$$, from what I have heard)

JAD--From what I've heard, (no personal experience though), I would skip the static cling ones. Alot of folks have had them fly off, refuse to stay put, etc. I would invest in a 3M Invisible bra, especially while your baby is still new and has no chips yet. I think they have the kits for the wheel wells as well? I've heard it's worth the money in the long term.
DEFINATLEY do the 3m clear tape on the front bumper. My car only has 5500 miles on it and I have to repaint the bumper already. The car has several big rock chips. Spend the $200 and have the bumper done. I will be doing this after the repaint. You cant notice it on the car at all, very clean look.
