Re: Anyone ever do a 4 corner balance? (Chalky'sC5)
Yes, I run open track events and I have corner weighted my 98 Z51 coupe and I recently had my 04 Z06 corner weighted as well. At the same time I had the corner weights done I had my alignment set to the specs of my liking as well which are Fr= 1.5 neg camber, .04 toe out, 7.0caster, Rear= 1.2 neg camber, .06 toe in. I cannot objectively seperate the benefits from the corner weight because they were done at the same time but OMG!! do the two together make an unbelievable difference in the turns. I literally did this mod and nothing else and cut almost 3 full sec off my lap times at Putnam Park Indiana. Hope that helps.

My car was corner weighted when it was prepared by Phoenix Performance last year.
This year, I bought my own scale system so I could verify the corner weights myself without having to drive from Memphis to Philly where Phoenix is located.
I now verify them before every race.
As mentioned above, it is very hard for me to separate the corner balancing from the other alignment settings.
I will say that while it might not be critical, it is important.
Here is an interesting article on the topic: http://www.grmotorsports.com/cornerweight.html
Re: Anyone ever do a 4 corner balance? (Subdriver)
I met Heinrocket at Pocono two years ago and while we were discussing how to prep a Z for the track, he stated that cornmer-balancing the car is one of the most important things you can do.
Does corner weight add weigts to the car or is it acheived through adjusting the suspension and alignment?
Would adding weight in the bottom of the trunk help prevent wet weather spinouts?
It is achieved through spring adjustments. The important thing is getting the cross weights the same (right front + left rear = left front + right rear).

Exactly. You can change the side to side or front to rear weight ratio's without actually moving weight around. Normally when corner balancing, you raise or lower one corner and you get a change on that corner on the diagonally opposite corner in the same direction.
When cross weight is 50.0% the LR + RF = 50.0% of the weight and the LF + RR = 50.0%.

A lot of the responses seem to indicate that corner balancing is great for racing. Is there any benefits (or potential harm) to corner balancing my Z that is just used on the street? Many thanks.

Great question Mike, just what I was thinking
And how much for this???
The 4 corner balance was the best thing (other than the 383) that I have had done for the car. Much improved street manners, an amazing difference. Probably not a big deal for a street driven only car, unless you are an "aggressive" driver in the turns.
