Default Sticky Lifter?

My car was up on jack stands for the last almost two weeks. When I started it, it sounded like a lifter was stuck. There was a steady ticking sound that vanished after a little warm up. The ticking lasted long enough for me to back out of the garage, get out and lift the hood to listen.

Is this a problem? Comments plaese.

Thanks,

I also have an '02. At about 8k miles, I began hearing single lifter noise. Usually showed up about 20 seconds after starting it up in the morning and was more or less there all the time. It was noticible at freeway speeds. To me, it felt like a weak valve spring. Power was down a bit also. With 22,000 on it one day, I came to a stop near the house, put the car in neutral while fiddling with something and the engine died. Restarted and "bang!!" Well more than one bang...Bottom line, the valve spring broke, the valve head was later found on top of the piston, the valve stem was blown out the exaust and was found lodged at the opening of the starboard cat. Chev replaced the engine without hesitation but I bring this up because at least two other fellows here in the past few months have had the same problem with '02's. Don't ignore it! Good luck, man.

GM issued a TSB on a bad O-ring on the oil pump pick-up which was causing aeration and foaming of the oil. This was related to complaints of valve train noise . Something to check out anyway.
