Do you guys have a rough start-up in the morning? whenever i turn the key, it takes a while for the engine to kick over. this isn't an issue on our '98 Pace Car, it starts right up. You think it's the camshaft(stock)? thanx
I just recently noticed the exact same thing when I first start it for the day.
I also noticed at appoximately the same time the starting issue developed, my fuel pump became louder. I used to only faintly hear the fuel pump, but now it is clear as ever.
I'd check to see if you have a DTC set (Diagnostic Trouble Code). The PCM uses the camshaft position sensor to determine when a cylinder is on its compression stroke for firing the spark plugs. If the camshaft position sensor has failed, the PCM then uses the crankshaft position sensor to determine (along with some other inputs) when a cylinder is in compression. This takes more engine revolutions, so starting may appear to take longer. The failure of the cam position sensor will set a DTC.
