Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but I've been wondering, to what extent do titanium mufflers cause the Z06 to sound the way it does? To phrase this differently, if the mufflers were made of, say, stainless steel instead, would it sound the same or at least very similar?
Re: Does titanium make for Z06 exhaust note? (Dope)
i don't agree, titanium brings a different sound to exhaust... i have had numerous bikes and the ti systems always sounded better up top than carbon or ss cans. the particular mfg on our cars has a lot to do with sound but Ti has an exotic sound to it... IMO

Funny you would mention that 'cause I also read about how much time and tweaking went into getting this car to sound the way it does. I thought I'd ask my original question because I've never heard the sound of a car with Ti mufflers and have been asking myself - what's the big deal with titanium other than reducing weight by a few pounds? I just wasn't sure what difference that made...
