So from what I gather intakes are a little different for Z06s than other Vettes when it comes to performance. Does anyone have one of the dual filter intakes and if so what is their opinions? Why did they go with the dual filter versus the blackwing or vararam? Would you replace the Z06 airbridge or is it not wirth it?
I am having mine done by Corvette Masters. They are recomending th dual air filter, Modified air tunnel , hot water bypass, and BBK throttle body with a tune. It should be great. The advantage is the dual airfilter requiers less instalation. I have a GS, I want to be able to change it back quickly for show. I will let you know the dyno results before and after it is done.
IMHO, go for the cut open stock lid/ k & n w/plastic ties-from WCC for $60 and an air bridge, i think it flows pretty good for 1/2 the cost, i have not seen a dyno comparison , but i tend to believe ya get about 1/2 the hp gains that the mfg's claim on all their fancy intake set ups
I just put the dual cone on mine with a carbon fiber power duct. Dont have any dyno results but after a ride I noticed washer fluid was coming out of my tank vent, something I had never seen before. Install was a breeze, and the price of the dual set-up was right, $64.99. New. Go for it.

There is a recall fix for the washer fluid problem. The dealer can fix that easy, my stock 02 did it also.
Where do you get it from for $64.99 with the carbon fibre duct? WCC wants over $500 for their set up. Wonder what the difference is that costs over $400.
I don't recall a formal washer fluid valve recall. I've had this problem on all 3 vettes where fluid leaks out upon hard acceleration. I don't think that it has anything to do with your mods. There was a a fix posted a while ago to use a ford part to replace the gm part. I've had the dealer replace this 2x and it still happened. Like I've said -I like to think that the car gets excited upon acceleration.

I installed the Granatelli dual K & N filter with new air bridge last year as my first mod. Bought it from Mid America Designs. It has worked very well for me. SOP says I picked up some HP. How much, I'm not sure. But I am happy with the installation.

As promised; I got my dyno results. I picked up 15 rear wheel HP with mine. Best Mod you can do. Forget exaust, unless you simply like the sound.
Yours was dyno'd with a throttle body and a tune, as well as an intake right? I wonder how much of that HP increase was due to the intake alone? What was the total cost of the mods you had done?
I still argue that long tube headers and an X pipe are money far better spent than an intake. If you want a little more air, just make the hole in your stock air box lid bigger and ad a K&N or Green filter. Should be more than enough air for a mild/stock set up.
I did not need a tune. I paid about 600.00 total. You may be right on the airbox thing.. I do not know.
I have a Z16 I don't want to hack it up too much, This is an easy thing to put back before a sale. Th3e kind of modifiction noone would ever need to know about. The parts are quality parts and can be sold on e bay or something I bet for 300.00 when I am done with them 2 - 3 years from now.
If you want real power, turbo charge it and spend the real $$$. This was the best thing for me.
The Z06 I just drove for an upcoming magazine article featured this product as part of the new Callaway Power Groups
It relocates the mass air for a truer reading and allows for a better design over the radiator

When were the before and after dyno runs done? Did you do a baseline pull, swap the airbox while on the dyno, and then do another run with the new airbox? If so then you are not seeing the real picture. You may have been running with a temporary lean condition. Head back to the dyno after driving about 100 miles and PCM learning might take most this new power away.
Just checked the Callaway Cars website, and the C5 Honker intake is now CARB legal. That gives us Cali guys more choice for an intake if we want to make sure our cars smog OK. They're claiming 21 bhp and 3 tenths in the quarter mile on an '03 Z for the intake and their exhaust (Power Group 1). I also like the fact that it eliminates the air bridge and matches the C6 design. Looks like a major improvement over the admittedly lousy C5 intake.
