I post this before and got no hits. I know there was a thread on this somewhere but I cannot find it.
When I turn on the main lights it used to take several seconds for the lights to pop up. It progressively took longer and longer. Now It takes up to a minute after switch the lights in the on position for the lights to pop up. I've tried switching on/off rapidly to see if the lights engage but it wants to sit it out until IT'S ready to pop up.
Like I said, I saw someone that had the same situation and resolved the issue. Let me know if any of your guru's have any insight. Thx
Yup I have had it happen a few times. it's intermintant with mine though. some times it's instant sometimes it's a ..... "BIT" ... how shall we say..delayed? no idea what causes it either
You have a broken wire in the turn signal/speed control/turn signal/head light switch wiring harness. This harness runs from the lever assembly down through the steering column and plugs into another wiring harness at the base of the insturment panel.
Every time you move your tilt wheel assembly you bend this harness. After a while some of the wires begin breaking apart inside the wire's insulation.
Next time your headlights (or turn signals, speed control, dimmer switch) acts up, move your tilt wheel up and down a few times. If it magically starts working again you've found the problem.
It's a fairly easy fix. (2 hours) About $125 for the part. The harness/stalk assembly is made in one piece.
