Part of the Twilight feature is it keeps your headlights on after you shut the car off and exit. Intended to "light the way" to wherever you're walking to.
The delay determines how long they stay on after you shut the car off.
Remember also that headlights will come up and on whenever you start your car in the dark or inside your garage. I finally turned mine off to reduce wear and since I've started to have headlight motor/gear problems.

The twilight feature will automatically turn your lights on and off depending on outside lighting levels. You do not have to use the steering column mounted switch with this option. I have it on mine and use it all the time.

Yeah, I remembered yesterday why I turned it off about a year ago.. Having the lights pop up in the garage wasn't all that cool.
I eventually turned mine off. It is kinda neat while you are driving and it gets dark you don't have to worry about turning the lights on. It just got annoying everytime I drove in a garage or somewhere where the lack of light turned on my headlights.
Turned mine off also, had the same problem with the headlights popping up every time I started the car in the garage. Very not cool driving down the block with the lights up during thr day.

Does that mean since you turned of the system you are now turning the lights on and off the old way by the switch.

This is the one option where I thought GM could have saved on development costs. It's hard to believe people can be so lazy or forgetful that they can't work the 3 muscles it takes to flick the lights on.
It's mandatory in Canada. In fact all cars have daytime running lights. It is amazing how much better you see oncoming traffic at dusk or adverse weather conditions that wouldn't require headlights.
