Default New tires mounted...

Got a nail in one of my rear GY Runflats and noticed it over last weekend. I ordered a set of Kuhmo Runflats to replace the GYs. Figured a set of 4 is about the cost of 2 rear GY tires, and I hate the noise and rock hard, no grabbing rubber that is on the GYs.

I had to stick with runflats as I drive 70 miles to work, and getting a flat w/o a spare on a mountain road doesn't sound like fun to me .

Anyway.... So I got them installed today and all I can say is "Why did GM even put the goodyears on my car to begin with ?". These tires are softer and stick better, they handle great. Best of all, they are nearly silent, and I can actually hear myself think when I drive now on the freeway.

Although, the downside is that now that there is no droning tire noise, I noticed I have a small wind leak at the passenger side window at 80mph. Never could hear it before, so I didn't know it existed.

If you're looking for RunFlats, and you don't want some All Season tire like the Michelin tire, these are the ones IMO, they are a performance tire, and will wear quickly I'm sure.... but it will be fun wearing them out.

I'm right behind ya, the Kuhmo's are a great value for the buck. Did you have any problems getting them, I see them sold out at a lot of stores?

I ordered them over the weekend from Tire Rack, the Nevada warehouse got them in on Wed. and since I am 3 hours from Reno I got them Today (thurs). Gotta love UPS ground for close distances.

Cheers.

I opted for the kumho asx tires, which are more of an all season non-runflat. the set cost me 550.00, which was a great price. i like the tires. and will buy them again. quiet, and good traction.

Tony, that's great news! Mine are supposed to be in today and I'll be out the door for under $800.

Prices for these tires are certainly attractive. You are right, non-runflats sure make the car quieter.
