I was going to lunch and saw a 99 TR/blk/blk vert with only 12,000 miles at a nearby perfromance car dealership. So...of course I found it necessary to check it out. They just got it in and were in the process of detailing it.
I noticed it had some black adhesive/sealant of some sort on the door. It was coming out from under the weatherstipping for the window. It wasn't a lot but I noticed it. I'm pretty sure the dealer didn't do it. They have not had it long enough to do anything to the car. The salesman was able to wipe it off easily.
The car was sitting in the hot sun. Is this common? Or, do you think the previous owner tried his hand at adding some adhesive to the weatherstripping?
I own a 99' coupe and I have the same black adhesive coming from my seal on the driver side window seal. It was there when I bought it. The first owner was a pilot and the car sit in a hanger all the time and I drive a company car so my vette only comes out at night. I don't see how the sun could be the cause but who knows. The adhesive is always the same cosistewncty whether it is cold or hot. It sticks out a little bit past the seal but I have never tried to get it off.
Mines has the samething so your not the only one. I've read someone on previous post state a easy clean up for the problem. i use the same remedy and it works perfectly.
