With what you have posted in the past, shouldn't you try and slow down a bit. That is unless you are at the track.

Bicky, it all depends what you're trying to accomplish. If you're trying to boil the tires, then traction control off. If you're trying to get away fast and not boil the tires, then leave it on. Of course you're NOT going to be performing these stunts on the streeet - right?

I know you're trying to be good - so you're going to experiment with this at a drag strip, not in a parking lot or on the street, aren't you?

Be careful, with TC off, a stock 6-speed, revved up to about 3500 rpm, dumping the clutch can be a real handful!

Bicky, why does everyone act like they are your personal gaurdian .... .... For best times, always leave traction control off, leaving it on will make your Vette fall on it's face and a ricer to beat you to the finish line.

As far as the RPMs, no one can really tell you exactly what to do... how you hook up has several variables. Your tires, track prep, weather... you need to expeirment and learn your car and learn to make adjustments as conditions change.

If your running stock tires, you should just forget about the water box for now, drive around it.... keeping your tires dry. When instructed roll up to prestage (first small yellow light), then to stage (both small yellow lights on). Watch the count down of the tree lights. When the last light before the green goes on... let it rip. Your movements to put the car in motion and that of your Vettes drivetrain, suspension and tires will get you moving as the turns green light.

Have fun... take the first couple of trips down the track to get the feel of the lights, the handling on the track at the end at high speed (the grooves can pull you around a bit), and to see where your turn offs are.
