Third around town and on twisties. 4th on freeway runs. I do not see any noticeable temperature differences, I run pretty constantly between 190 and 215.

That's what I do as well. Only exception, when in the mountains (Colorado) I keep it in third.

Tranny temperature varies on a lot of things. In my mostly stock A4 with 2.73, it is somewhere around 180-190 casually driving down the highway. I've seen it as high as 218 as I was driving up and down the mountains around Hoover Dam when it was 108 degrees outside, and I was taking it very easy.

My modded vette with a FLP-4 tranny, 3.73 diff and a Yank SY-3500 torque converter runs notably hotter. Casually down the highway is 210-220, and quickly heats up with some aggressive driving.

It also tracks with the outside temperature. On very cold winter days, a stock setup may not break the 150-160 range with casual highway driving.

I typically keep it in D4. Sometimes when I'm at a long stoplight or stuck in traffic, I'll put it in N. From highway speeds to nearly stopped due to congestion around an accident, I've seen my modded vette's tranny temp go over 235; keeping it in N when possible will help keep the temp down.

Same Here! I just had an FLP Level IV/SY3500/3.42 put in with a B&M 24k cooler, and my temps haven't gone over 190º, even when it was 85º out. A cooler Definitely helps!
