I use 93, but just because that is what is available at a gas station that I frequently use. I would use anything form 91-93 octane. Would probably run fine on less octane, but I don't intend to find out.
I'm surprised that you find it runs fine on 91 (even though the owners manual implies or says to use it). With that 10.1:1 comp ratio (Z06 is 10.5:1), I was surprised to see that the owners manual didn't require 93. What your elevation? Higher elevations can get away with less octane since they are starting with a lower air pressure. I use 93 and it has never seemed to balk.

You can not buy higher than 91 here in Phx. at the pump most of the time. Our ratings are 87, 89, or 91. There are like 10 speciality stations in Phx. that I know of where you can buy higher than 91 octane at the pump. At those stations, the options are usually 100 or 101. Expect to pay $5 a gallon for anything over 91($1.95 today) here.
We are at about 1,117 feet and with a population of 1.3 million(just in Phx, not surrounding cities), 10 stations is a very small niche.
I think it sucks, but the only thing I can do is move. I don't think I will be doing that though. I will just be jealous of all thoes who can buy 93 an 95 easily and cheeply!
I tell ya, I wouldnt run anything less than 93 in my A4. I once found myself in a position where I HAD to put in 89 (almost empty, only station nearby, and they were out of super) I hated the way the car ran It was like someone had reached in and ripped out 50hp. When it comes to the Motion Lotion, Gimme the best you got. 4 things in this world you should never compromise on.....Cars, Bourbon, Fuel, and Broads

Nothing less than 91. Haven't really looked for a local station that carries anything higher, or whether it's even available in California. Anyway, I waited a long time to buy my Vette, so I'm not about to get cheap on the gas.
Ooooh! That's good gas. Can't get that around here any more. There used to be a Sunoco here that had the 101 octane, it even smells different from regular gas.
I use BP (formally AMOCO) premium. I guess I'm dating myself calling it premium instead of using the numbers.
93, if there's a gas station with 92 i keep on driving, and NEVER 91 or 89, maybe i'm just paranoid, but i'd like to see the odo. read 200k some day, at this rate it'll be in four years!
