i ordered the rear letters in brake light red from ecklers $59.95. not bad but $12 shipping is the letters weigh a few ounces i won't be ordering anything from these guys again
This Ridiculous Postage Deal Appears To Be A Trend. Have You Noticed Some Of The Fees On Ebay? Evidently Many Folks Are Adding To Their Profit By Jacking Up Postage Prices.
Some vendors are too high. They have to pay for packing labor and materials plus shipping rates, so they pass that onto the consumer. FedEx has been gouging me with "fuel surcharges" so I had to raise my shipping rates a few bucks.
from i won't be ordering anything from these guys again
voluntary paymentyou saw the charge for shipping . . . you did not like it . . . you paid it . . . . now you complain
that makes no sense. why did you order you opened the barn door and let the cow out now you complain that the cow is gone
BTW : businessmen call it shipping . . . would you complin if the price for the article you purchaed was $12 higher and the shipping was 95 cents . . businessmen (vendors) like to list the article at the lowest price (competition) psychology . . . many buyers do not pay attention to the out the door price you do but it is the out the door price that gets put on your credit card that is important
Jacking the postage should be illegal.
You think that's bad. I've been waiting for a catalog from them for 5 1/2 weeks. Guess i'll get one when the snow starts flying ???

I agree and more and more vendors are doing it. The only way we'll stop it is to boycott those that do charge high shipping. The only problem is sometimes they are the only vendor selling an item. All I ask is that they are honest about their charges. My .02!

you guys are not merchandisers OK lets raise the price and drop the shipping . . . would you be happier if the shipping was free but the price was higher
it is what gets charged to your credit card that matters
I sometimes get free shipping but there is no free shippping like there is no free lunchNO FREE LUNCH
I have to agree, these vendors have found a sleazy way to grease the customer, especially the ones on eBay. The only way to stop it is to refuse to do business with the greasers and let them know why you are taking them off your list of vendors. I had a DP on eBay try to rip me off to ship a radio surround, he added 21.00 to the cost of the item for shipping. I refused to pay the shipping told eBay and the deal ws canceled, even eBay agreed it was out of line. If we as consumers do not fight back we deserve to be the victim of these crooks.
When you do the deal, always remember, it's your money and your decision. If the product is not life support, you can always pass. Remember: It's called shopping, you control the outcome.
Hi Guys. New to the Forum here. Got to aggree I was in retail for some time and alot of vendors are charging big time on shipping. I know for a fact that they charge by the weight although there is a one pound limit even if the package only is a few ounces. That said a one pound package would still be only 5 to 6 dollars to ship. It comes right down to the fact that vendors ARE making more on what they sell by charging more for shipping. I used UPS. Oh by the way, I ordered SS Inserts for the back of my C5 and they charged 11.00 for the shipping.

you know...If you will not from every vendor who charges such fees
you will ultimately never buy from every vendor here...
...actually...
I believe you could have bought the inserts for $12 less anyway...
...paying a lower price for the inserts could have eased the blow...
I try to get three "shipped to my door" price quotes before picking a vendor....hope vendors are reading.
out the door works when buying the car as well as buying accessories
most of these merchandisers have catalogs whether on paper or On-Line
their psychology is to have the lowest advertised price for their product. . . notice that you go through several steps in ordering .. . . the last step is how you want it shipped. . . by that time you may have invested a half hour of your time in ordering several items . . . then it dawns on you . . . gawd look at the shipping charges . . . you say OK this time but not next time. . . shipping charges subsidize the cut rate advertised price. . . they hope you do not cancel your order but go through with it
Called merchandizing it is what they do to make a living
shipping is not an add on at cost
Live and learn . . it is the real world out there do some forget about calling it

Seems like more and more places are doing it. They play their little pointed headed marketing games to make it appear their price is competative and then whack you with high shipping.
When I shop I compare the total cost delivered to my door. Yes, it is a pain because I have to go thru all the hoops to just about place an order only to find out all the little games they want to play.
But after one or two times I remember who the game players are and simply avoid them.
I would rather support an honest vendor who sells at an honest price and charges an honest shipping charge then support a game player. Note the keyword I used... honest.
While we are on the subject, don't even mention anything about handling charges. That is a cost of doing business, deal with it.
There are many many forum vendors that don't play silly games. They are the ones that get my business.

Before people start to rant and rave about shipping costs take a little time to investigate. Remember that these vendors are using USPS which sets the rates.
$12 is not that bad, remember that the cost for you to ship the exact same item is $6.50 to $7 USPS rate plus the cost of the box and packing material.
SSinserts charges $21.25 to ship to Canada, USPS charges 15.25 then again add the cost of a box and packing material.
Also once you get the package from Ecklers tell us what the exact postage was on the package.
