Default Does size matter?

I'll be getting some chrome z06 wheels soon and the tires to go with them. Now the question is, what size? Since I'll be getting the tires at the same time, I can get whatever size I want (that'll fit).

As I understand it, the standard z06 wheels are wider than the regular coupe sizes. Any problem going to the wider wheels?

Annnnd, what about just putting 18's all around? Any problems with that?

BTW, I intend to buy Michlen Pilot Sport run-flats.

If you use the proper tire sizes, and take into consideration the overall height of them, wheel size (diameter) is mostly an aesthetics thing. The larger diameter looks much better IMO.

There is no problem at all using the wider Z06 size wheels, nor is there a problem running 18/18, 18/19, 18/20, 19/19, 19/20 combinations, but this is assuming the right sized tires are used.

But the key statement iin your quest is that you intend to use the runflat tires.
The problem with this, is as of right now, the only runflat tires available are in the stock 17/18 sizes. I would not advise running the same size 18" tire all around. You can run 18" wheels all around no problem, but you need different tire sizes front/rear, and you won't find them in runflat tires. The rear tire needs to be taller to not give the Traction Control system fits. This availability of different sized runflats will soon change since the C6 is coming with 18/19 runflats, and you may be able to get a suitable size 18" front runflat in the near future...but for now, you're stuck with the stock sizes and the stock width wheels to best fit those runflat tires on.

I always thought it wasn't the meat it was the motion, but you do have to give em something to work with... oh, tire size? Never mind.

I have chromie Z06 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 wheels and run Michelin Pilot Sports (non-runflats) in 275x35x18 and 295x30x18 without any problems. The Michelins are much quieter and better handling than the run-craps. :flag

I'm running HRE 540's. 18in front and 19 in rear. Wheels are 18X9.5 front and 19X11 rear. Front tire size is 275-35/18, rear tire size is 295-35/19. The tire sizes were not available in runflats. I have Michelin Pilot Sports. I also have a plug kit and a small air compressor. The choice is up to you, runflats or non-runflats.....

I did this several months ago. I like the wider stance of the Z-06 size wheels and tires, 2 inches overall but make sure that you have the car alighned to Z-06 specs. Otherwise the tires will rub the wheelhouses when the wheel is turned to the lock . I also lowered at the same time and if your considering this, do it all in tandem so as not to have the car alighned twice Have Fun and post some pix when your done
