[Z06] Lost to a Cobra - Mod Time!
I have only raced one, caught him sleeping.
I ran a 12.9/111 to his 12.7/113...out side temps were in the low 80's at the time. However, my reaction time was like a .147 to his .547
I really caught a good light. I always start after the second yellow, sometimes I red light, but when I don't, the Z usually has an overwhelming advantage.
I wasn't even thinking about who was in the next lane until I looked at my time slip. My car is bone stock with a ripper, but this guy had some meat, pretty sure he had a super charger and radials. Needless to say, I was impressed.
If we had lined up again, I would probably have seen his tail lights. I watched him run later on, and he only got better...something like a 12.6, which I am capable of, but not that day. My times only got worse

btw, at 40mph, I would start off in first , with equal drivers and cars, the race will be won in the first sixty feet. I wouldn't roll up against anyone unless I was above 4000 rpms
Take the 500 bills and get into a local driving school, I think you will be surprised by how much there is to learn.
good luck, have fun, and be safe!

All of these cars are full on street driven, with reasonable fuel mileage and full interiors, mufflers, stereo & air conditioning. On the other hand, for driving in the twisties, they can't touch the 'Vette. The '03 Cobra has lots of suspension mods and is an IRS car, but the Vette just hides from it in the tight curves. Most likely the weight and more balanced power are at work here. (I have seen reports of chassis modified Cobras pulling .95g on a skid pad).
The Vettes are also much more comfortable for extended driving. Just don't mess with a modded Cobra in a straight line. They are all fun.
'00 through '04 Cobras look mostly the same. Any of them can have big power if supercharged, either stock ('03&04) or aftermarket. The '03 & up have cast iron blocks, forged pistons, forged rods, etc. and are built for high hp potential. The earlier ones had aluminum blocks, cast pistons, etc. and are easier to destroy with power adders.

You're right about the races being won in the first 60 ft. The guy couldn't pull away after his initial jump and I didn't have enough road to reel him in. I enjoyed the races though. Only way to learn. I will keep in mind your advice about keeping it above 4000 rpm when going from a roll.
I must say, it was a very nice and mean looking Cobra. It must have been a 03 because it looked like the Cobra in Taxpaid's sig. I did notice when I was BEHIND him that he didn't have any exhaust pipes showing. What kind of exhaust mod did he have?

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
here's a pic of both of us
Afvette asying that the car will eventually blow up when the boost is turned up is plain wrong. The car has a $12,000 motor in it. It's an iron block w/ forged rods and pistons, it's ready to go from the factory like a Supra.

Rustangs and Slowbras..........I must of missed that phase when I was growing up..................thankfully.

Yea, Lightnings and Mustangs look so similar
The only thing they have in common is the s/c and they are FORD.
Nice try though.

Sorry, you don't like my comments, but I don't really care what you think. I can like and dislike what I want, as can you. It has nothing to do with being an enthusiast. Are all those Nascar fans that cheer for Chevrolet and boo the Fords and vice versa not enthusiasts?
