My friend wants to remove the emblem on the back of his vette. It is new he just picked it up last week. It seems that if it is removed the sticky tape will stay on the car. Anyone know how to remove this perfectly w/o any noticable marks. I know it seems strange but his other vette did not have it after the back was repainted and he liked it like that. I personally like the emblem so i can cloes the lid w/o fingerprints. Oh well his car so any idea would be great!!!!
They can be removed...don't think they have pinholes in the bumper for alignment (definitely not if your buddy already had his off). Easy enough to do, but you need to be very careful not to damage paint while removing. Once emblem is off, a light dosage of something like "oops" or "goo b gone" will do the trick...Then wash and wax...

Use a hair dryer to warm up the emblem area then take some fishing line and use it as a sort of saw between the emblem and the double sided tape. Once the emblem is off, you can then take the remaining tape off and you will have a clean surface with no damage to the paint.
I removed mine from my "01 vert right after I bought it new. It is held on by double face tape and the above mentioned methods work, there was no paint damage and you can't see a trace of where it was. The front is a different story, that is held in place with pins.
Good Luck!
I took mine off to clean the mess between the flags. Now I am looking for tape so I can put them back on. I want to use a lot less tape so I can remove them easily for future cleaning. Anybody know where to buy the tape? I have some double sided tape but it's a lot thicker than the factory stuff.
So my friend did finally remove the emplem thanx for all the info. After pulling it off he used Bug/Tar remover 3 times to remove access sticky tape. He then clayed for tape fragments. Then cleaner wax for final prep, and then polish. Looks great no signs that it was ever there.
