If you want to stay that way, don't stray over to the Vendor sites and don't request any catalogs! That will lure you into the MOD trap! Once you get a taste of it, you cannot be cured!
Stock corvettes are fine. Just wait and see... after having the car for a while and reading about all the nice things others are putting on their car - you start thinking about 1-2 improvements - and before you know it you have 1. The blackwing air intake is an easy 1st.
Nothing wrong with that at all. I drove a 300ZX for 13 years as a dd and it never even entered my mind. I always thought it was the rebels who messed with their cars. Then I bought a vette and found this forum . . . I'm afraid to add up the receipts.
Believe what these guys are saying. If you really don't want to mod your car, then don't even start. I haven't had mine long, and I told myself I loved 'er just the way she was. Then that dull space between the exhaust seemed to get bigger and bigger, so I said, well I'll get an exhaust plate. Bad Idea. Got me to visit vendor sites and catalogs while I shopped around and now I've got a list a mile long. This forum doesn't help either, cuz you see all the pics of so many beautiful cars with great mods and you can't help but being sucked in.
Anyway, if you can stick to your guns, more power to you. There is certainly nothing wrong with that.
i say theres nothing wrong with that! i have the same mindset on my vette. not to mention that my last 2 cars, i modded to the point where it was not fun anymore.
i had a 87 GN that i dumped about 15K into and a 01 trans am that i dumped about 20K into and took a bath on both of them when i sold them not to mention all the headache i had over broken parts and such.
i read it somewhere. its an effort to keep drag racing off the street. its some OEM class. you have to run radial street tires and basicly no modifications that are obvious like a blower or nitrous.
Is there anything wrong with a person not wanting to mod her Vette? I want to keep her the same, just for cruisin and car shows! I think it is fun just the way it is! I know you cannot drag race a convertible!

Absolutely not. I'm from the era that says it must be stock and the numbers must match! Tell me is it ugly? No -- Is it too slow? No -- Do people look and say "it's nice but...."? No. So if it aint broke , don't mess with it.

Would probably depend on how specific the track officials want to get. An air intake is a mod, but doubt anyone would pull a vert off the track for running under 11.99(??).
