Auto Tranny
hey my dad is having to get his auto transmission replaced (c5) .. atleast thats what the dealership says. Is there an aftermarket tranny that would be better than stock?
or what about the manual conversion?
any $.02 are welcome. thanks.

Better to spring for a torque converter or upgraded gears in the new A4 than go all the way to MN6. That would be pricey, if it's just a toy. The swap out would involve much $s.
But there are no other Automatic options besides the stock tranny, to answer your question. Just different gears and torque converters.

If the dealership is doing the work it is unlikely they'll put in anything other than what came out of it.
Having said that Transmission Specialists, FLP, Rossler have aftermarket offerings.

FLP (Finish Line Performance) is a great place to go if you want a heavy duty... to... all out racing transmissions. The stock A4 (Automatic 4 speed) barely cuts it for the power the C5 engine creates.
