I looked for a Z06 for months before I bought my convert. But, every one that I sat in, my head hit the crossbar in the roof. I am 6'2" and tried every possible way to adjust the seat so that I could sit in the car, to no avail. I would still like to get a '04 CE but can't fit. Any tall people out there with a solution or should I opt for surgical removal of the upper 3" of my head? (Yes, I know saving weight is a good thing.)

6'2 isn't a problem. i'm 6'3 and only have problems when i have a helmet on.

make sure your seatback is all the way back. seat down and back as well. maybe move the seat forward 1/2" so your seatback can get reclined further.

you have to lean back and have your arms almost fully extended at times.

you could fit in it.

Tom,

You can order a new 2002 headliner without the bar in it. The bar is a plastic mesh that is attached to the headliner for safety reasons that only came in the '03 and '04. The '02 headliner fits in the '04. Do a search, there has been plenty of discussion on this topic and the removal/installation is easy.

I pulled mine out and have yet to put in a new one. I am 6'7", so I also had to bolt in a different seat that puts me on the floorboard.

It's an easy mod that makes you comfortable. (the headliner, the seat is a little more challenging.)

Good luck.

I'm 6' 2" and do exactly that... plenty of headroom once you recline the seat a little.

6' 3" and I have no head room problem in my 03, it just takes some seat adjustment. I can not wear a hat in the car, but I do not wear one out of the car so no problem.

First off all, it depends how you are built, not just how tall you are. Some people have longer torsos and some have longer legs. Some have more junk in the trunk than others too.

Like others have said, if you're in a '03 or later Z, consider replacing the headliner with a '02 or '01 headliner. It might buy you a little room.

I'm 6'1" and don't have a problem. I don't have a lot of room to spare with a helmet on though.

I am 6'3" and fit well in my 04 z. I even autocross it with a helmet on -- it is all about positioning the seat the right way... I use the memory 1+2 for my autocross seat position - and setting 1 for my daily driving.

works for me.

I replaced my 04 headliner with an 02 version. I fit much better now and is much more comfortable. It took about 2 hours to do going very slow and careful.

Thanks for all of your input.
I don't like to drive with the seat reclined alot, so I will look into the earlier headliner option. (Like I need another car.)
