3:15 rear axle
Hey guys, in my search to buy a new C5, just how important is the 3:15 performance axle? That's what i've been looking for, but cant find many locally. I could go to another state, but would prefer to stay local at this time. Is it that much faster than the standard rear end? What does it do for gas mileage(like i really care). lol
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
I have found my 3:15 axle to be one of the most fun cars I have driven (automatic that is). I have driven the camaro with a 2:73 rear end and the performance is nothing like the 3:15. I recommend continuing your search for the 3:15 or buy a 2:73 and upgrade immediately to something like the 3:42 or 3:73. A vette running the 2:73 on the same track with the same mods out here ran .5 seconds slower than I. Of course, I can't tell you if he was starting in "D" or "3rd", but he was running much slower than my slowest run.
IMHO 3.15 is significantly better than stock 2.73; however, if you find a car you like, you can always have the 2.73 replaced with either a 3.15 or preferably 3.42 or 3.73.
