I just noticed that the hood light quit working. Nothing in owner's manual about it.
How do you change the light? Could it be a fuse?
Hey me too...just noticed this afternoon that mine was out and didn't have time to check it out. A little assistance as you suggest would be nice. Anybody????

The hood light times out and turns itself off after a certain number of minutes. Try this first. Close the hood just gentle enough so the latches don't latch then reopen it and see if the light comes on. Also, there is a wiring connector at the front of the hood that can get disconnected. Follow the wiring from the light to the front of the hood and you should find the connector. I haven't changed the bulb or fuse on mine so I can't answer these questions. Hopefully, some else will chime in with answers on these questions soon. Good luck.
Check down by the passenger side hood hinge. There's a connector there that often gets disconnected. Mine was when I got mine. Plugged it in and light works fine.
Anyone has the part number for the bulb and the housing unit?
I've had to replace the bulb twice. Don't know about a part number for the housing unit, but the bulb is an "over-the-counter" from Autozone. Made by EIKO, it's #561.
Thanks for all the replys. I pulled off the cover and the bulb was shot. It was in two pieces. I was cleaning the motor and may have sprayed it with water when it was hot. The hood light is right next to the Procharger and it gets real hot.

Glad you got it fixed. I was going to suggest just checking the bulb.
I was just out the other day cleanig up my engine compartment after my Blackwing install when I noticed the light on my hood wasn't coming on. I looked at the bulb and everything seemed okay. So I was left scratching my head wondering if it could be a fuse or something. I walk inside, get on the forum, do a quick search, find a thread not more than a couple of days old about this same issue, go back out to car, check the wire by the hood hinge, it's disconnected, plug it back in, and voila...Light!
Saved myself a bunch of time messing with the bulb, fuses, etc.
I had no bulb at all when I bought my 2002 coupe..Got the 561 bulb but do not know how it fits in..anyone possibly have a pic of it sitting in the light?? Thanks for reading
Anyone on here that finds a burnt bulb can get an LED replacement from George at Radioflyer. Super bright and a nice cool color compared to the stock light. Also draws a lot less power when you leave the hood open. Perfect replacement for the stock bulb.
When I bought my 2000 the underhood light was disconnected. I thnk that was done when the Vararam was installed by a prior owner. I reconnected the plug but the light still didn't come on when I raised the hood. I have to raise the hood and turn the parking lights on for it to operate. It goes out when I lower the hood to an almost closed position and will come back on if I raise the hood within a few minutes. Let it sit for an hour and I have to turn the lights on to activate it again. Gremlin?

I believe that during a time frame with earlier models, 97'-99' and maybe 00'. The earlier housings, like in my 99', takes the 561 'rigid loop' bulb and later models take the regular #561 bulb. My guess is you have the wrong bulb !!
Go to flea-bay and type in, 561 'rigid loop' bulb and you'll see the different variations of the 561 bulb. Good luck !
