I have a C6 on order. You guys have the experience with extended warranties. Any suggestions GM or ?. Any info ,including ball park prices and terms, duration , would be appreciated. If you go with GM do you get better treatment at the dealer shop?
I just bought a GM extended warranty. I got a 24 month/ 50,000 mile warranty for $1400 or so. I drive 25,000 miles a year, so this was the way to go. I think the 48 month/50,000 was around $1900. DO NOT BOTHER WITH NON-GM extended warranties. Ones through private companies are a real pain to deal with. I used to be a service advisor for Honda and had customers with NON-Honda warranties. It takes longer to get a repair done with a non-maker warranty. First, you drop your car off at the dealership. Then, they find the problem, call your warranty company and wait for an adjustor to come out and look or approve the job. Next, the dealership finishes the work. After that, you either have to pay for the repairs and submit paperwork back to them to get your money back, or you have to wait for them to pay. On simple warranty repairs, I saw customers wait 3 to 5 days total to get their cars back. If they had a factory extended warranty, they would have had the car back the same day. It may be a couple hundred dollars more for a factory warranty, but it is a couple hundred that is worth it.

The GM warranty is a very good one, and is accepted easily at all GM dealerships plus other shops I believe. However, don't feel like that is your only choice. Warranty Direct is used by a number of forum members and they swear by it. Good service, no hassles, etc. Talk to Evil-Twin about this warranty company.
1 Source is also another good aftermarket company.
