Default Stupid Z06 driver.....

Last night I was cruising down I-4 in Orlando around 11pm at about 70-75mph in a 65 (the average speed on I-4) when a set of head lights came FLYING up behind me. I got over real fast as I could tell this car was doing well over 100mph at the rate he was gaining on me. As I got over he flys by me within a foot of my driver's door. It was a blue Z06 and appeared all stock to me as it had not tint, stock tail-pipes, and I didn't hear it very much as it went by. I was tempted to catch up to him and get his tag but thought better of it as he looked like he stole the car the way he was cutting people off and crossing 4 lanes at a time of traffic.....

Well about 5 miles down the road I'm still cruising along in the left lane when I notice a cop on the right side of the highway. He comes flying across and behind me... then puts on his lights and pulls me over. I wasn't mad at him, he had probably cause, but I was MAD at the idiot who caused this whole thing. I got out and right away asked him if he was pulling me over for a Corvette driving recklessly - because it wasn't me. I explained the whole story and he was very cool.

I just wanted to say.... if it was anyone who is reading this I would be happy meet up with you and teach you how to pick up your teeth with broken fingers. I hate idiots on the road that endanger everyone else.

Did you get a ticket?

Yeah, it's drivers like that that give Vette owners a bad name.

I know what you mean. I lived in O-town for a number of years and agree there are some pretty lousy drivers there. The worst are the tourists who will back up on the Interstate if they miss an exit. Here in Dallas you have to watch out for the ricers racing on the freeways.

I feel for you man! We have nuts like that down here in South Florida all the time! Just after I bought my Z06 (BTW, it wasn't me, mine is silver ), I had a black C5 coupe just about take the rear of my Vette off as he was weaving through traffic. He was at well over 100mph, as all of us were doing 80-85 on the Turnpike (general speed driven down here on the FL Turnpike). Guys like that give all of us Vette drivers a bad name.

Nope, no ticket, the cop was actually very cool.... Probably because I got out and explained the whole thing before he said a word. Never even asked for my license. I've seen crazy drivers, but the way this guy was speeding and weaving and cutting people off he should have lost his license! I'm no light-foot, but I also don't agree with putting innocent people in danger because I feel like driving like Nascar. I guess I'm just hoping the guy is on the forum, but then most of the forum guys would not drive like this moron.

Thanks for listening to the venting guys

Being in Orlando, if people want to know what it feels like to drive a NASCAR, they should hit the Richard Petty Experience!

BTW...it is AWESOME!! Hitting 160 mph in the long straight, doing laps at 128.72 mph. It is a total rush!! I had the opportunity to experience this back in June 2002 with 18 laps around the Disney Speedway. No, this isn't the Speedway with the Lemans cars on the chains in Disney. The Disney Speedway was built for Indy Racing in the early 90's. Indy abandoned it, as it cost too much to bring in seating (Disney would not allow permenant grandstands). Also, for anyone who is going to visit DisneyWorld and wants free parking...tell them at the gate that you are going to the track. You get waved into the park and then you can go ahead and park. Saves you $ 8.00 in parking!

The state puts up signs saying "Fines Doubled If Workers Present" but since no one has ever witnessed anyone actually WORKING out there - the police can't enforce that.

Glad you didn't get a ticket. How did the cop not see this guy unless he turned off before he could get caught. Too bad you couldn't get the license number.

Look for massive layoffs coming soon - it seems someone has invented a shovel that stands up all by itself.

Reckless driving and Driving Impaired are the real killers on our highways. Exceeding a posted limit under optimal conditions is reasonable, and I would guess most of us do that occasionally.
I agree with you wholeheartedly that the nut cases are the real danger, and we all suffer because of them. I recently witnessed a similar incident with a dude in a beat up pickup truck. It's like the bad cop that makes all cops look like dirtbags. Glad you didn't get grief from the cop.

Yep, wrecless drivers are stupid. There were some Z06 drivers going at a VERY high rate of speed in front of my house this weekend (I live in Bowling Green). It's too bad one of the many tractors that take up 1.5 lanes was not coming the other direction...

Wow theres a lot more Florida drivers in this forum than I thought! Wasn't me, I drive a silver Z06 I have yet to see another vette driver on the road driving faster than 5 under the speed limit, since I bought the Z06 about 1 1/2 months ago. Most of the guys I see are 55+ and probably never take their car over the posted speed limit, or 2500 rpm

It's not just FLA, I recently went from Dallas to Ashville NC and every state along the way had those signs with nothing going on. I think it's a ploy to slow everyone down.
