Z16 Wheels

Does anyone know why GM will not sell Z16 wheels to anyone but a current Z16 owner? I checked with GMPartsDirect and they sent me the following reply: "Yes you must prove ownership of an actual Z16 Car. GM will not fulfill orders without a valid Z16 optioned corvette."

Find a club in your area and get one of the members that has a Z16 to order you a set.

I see them for sale every now and then. If in a hurry then do as suggested about finding someone who has one and use their VIN. Not to hard to write it down.

Buy a set of aftermarkets. The polished clearcoat isn't exactly to die for......but that is just me.

Does anyone know how much they are? If they are something like $3K, I'd just go aftermarket before I bought polished OE wheels.

I purchased mine for $1680 and $80 (10% over cost)for the center caps. Purchased in Nov. 03 from my GM dealer. I know of no one else who has purchased the ORIGINAL wheels from GM.

GM now not ONLY wants a VIN but ALSO a copy of your registration!

They look great (see sig).

There are lots of junk look alikes out there....be careful, .and remember you get what you pay for................

Those prices aren't bad. Much better than what I thought they'd be. I wonder if you could get them even cheaper if you work through one of these discount online GM parts places. The only problem is shipping would probably negate any discounts.

I wonder if you could get someone with a Z16 to order you a set. There isn't a limit on how many sets a Z16 owner can order, is there? Maybe they want 10 extra sets? It could happen.
