Now I just have to find the right new shift ****. Am thinking I want a heavy solid core. Considering this billet one from West Coast http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/sho...ail.cfm?id=477 or maybe even one of the Momo shifters (http://www.sportscar-parts.com/shift_knobs.html). Anyone have experience with these or have other recommendations for a good shift ****? Seems like a lot of you have the MGW Gripper ****. JDrew

I just installed the MGW Gripper 2 days ago. This is an extremly high quality ****. Fit and finish are excellent. Tolerances are tight. You can screw it on to the height you like and lock it with the single set screw. If you screw it all the way down it actually makes the shifter shorter than with the stock **** install. That's how I installed mine. I can now rest my arm on the center console and my hands falls right on the **** with almost no raise in elevation. It feels so good and the comfort factor is great
It did quiet down the harmonics about 85% from the Hurst with the stock ****. I can now only hear the harmonics being transmitted thru the Hurst over 4500 rpms. I plan to do the Hurst boot mod next to quiet it down further.
Thanks so much. JDrew
I will figure out how to post some pics...but ended up installing the hurst short shifter, custom made "RAT" boot in black and red (custom made to be black with red stripe) and a triple chrome MGW Gripper Shifter ****.
Since I had the console taken out, I decided to also Dynomat everything...which worked well. Also went ahead and ran the wiring I would need next week when my stereo guys install my Kicker 400.1 amp and my 10 inch Kicker 4 ohm sub in the rear compartment bay. Will post pics of that too for anyone interested. But running the wires now was a great idea because the more you tear your car apart...the less likely it goes back together tight and correct.
Thanks again...JDrew
