[Z06] Hurst shifter installed
4 days on mine now and I am adjusted to the better feel, performance shifts and quick short throws. I love it and will never go back. I don't feel that I need to install the softer springs at all. Just love how it seems to click into the gears. Precise.
On a substantive note, make sure you loctite the bolts. I had the bolts that hold the shifter to the torque tube loosen on me twice even thougth I torqued them to spec (once leaving me stuck on the side of a road course).
For the first install, I think 30 mins is a bit optimistic. More like 1hr. Lube the demon key about 10 mins before you try to pull it.
I am very much enjoying all the posts....hope to be able to contribute as well in the future with the mods and limited experience I have to share. JDrew

The Hurst part # you want is "391 5085"
Don't panic when you get it...it will most likely say it futs 97 - 2000 Corvettes with BW T-56 transmission....in reality it fits 97 to 2004 six-speed trannys
About 2 weeks on mine now and I' m still lovin it....so cool how it seems to click from gear to gear with so much precision. I don't think it has loosened up yet but I am used to it and would never go back to that butter-churning feelin stock shifter

almost forgot...don't pay over $ 159.....there are those that sell them at inflated prices....buyer beware
I assume you also have the skip shift eliminator as well? I planned on adding it at the same time I added the Hurst so I don't have to take it all apart more than once.
Few other inquiries if you have the time and patience.....did you change out the shift **** too? Will the Hurst work okay with the factory ****? Also what about the boot --- if the Hurst is shorter does the boot now look saggy? Do I need to replace it too?
Any other recommended mods while I have the center console out to install the Hurst and skip shift?
Much appreciated!!!!!

Yes I have the Skip shift installed, but it goes under the car at the REAR on the driver side of the tranny
Real easy install here...just unplug the connector and plug in the skip shift. Jack the car up in the rear...about a 1 minute install after the car is raised.http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...r/cags_slp.htm
Shift ****...have the stock **** on now...gets s little harmonic vibration thru the **** at high RPM's. I have a MGW Gripper **** http://www.mgwltd.com/corvette_gripper_shift_knob.html being shipped to me now to eliminate that issue. The problem with the stock **** is that it has a hollow cavity under the shift pattern cap that acts as a resonating chamber that amplifies the driveline harmonics transmitted up the SOLID shaft of the Hurst.

The stock shifter is a two-piece shaft witha rubber isolator used to defeat the sound issue. Its a very easy install. Loctite the the bolts that mount the shifter base to the tunnel. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=34&TopicID=1
Shift boot: Yes its a little baggy with the stock boot but not too bad. I will eventually replace it with a tone boot

Additional mods: I installed the infamous Sterring Column Lock Block (CLB) from http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...d=220&pcid=156 ($55) under the driver side dash at the same time....easier since you have the center trim out already.
I also installed the aluminum gauge bezels in the instrument cluster at the same time. LAPD website for install instructions with pics.
If you are considering these additional mods now is the time to do them with the shifter. Took me 4 hours start to finish with no prior experience.
I am sure there are many other mods you could consider, stereo, timer, radar detector, etc.....
Email me and I will send you some pics of my install if you like.

Only been here less than a week...and already addicting. Thanks again for the input.

I believe my SRT 10 has the Tremec T56 transmission similar to the Viper & Z06.
