My last Vette went to it's second owner in very good shape. Hardly driven, unmodified, and underenjoyed.

I wouldn't want to be the second owner of this one as it will be completely spent when I'm done with it.

It will lower the value even if you was putting down 600rwhp it would be worth less than if it were stock.

and looks wise I think all vettes look AWESOME in stock form!

Mods are a personal decision, whatever makes you happiest with the car is best.

For myself, I care less about resale value than I do about having the car "personalized" to meet my goals. Resale value stinks anyways, even if the car is stock. The mods definitely can make the car perform better and look better. I've always been a "tweaker", and enjoy getting the most out of the C5 platform.

We really need to think this through. We seem to spend the first 20 years modifying the snot out of our cars and then spend the next 20 trying to put them back to the way they come from the factory. Fun isn't it.

Too late for me but save yourself while you still can....

My two sons help me/advise me as to which mods I should do to the car. The way they see it in a few years they will try to put me in an old peoples home so they can get the car. How's that for gratitude? I won't go without a fight!

Dont ever be afraid to make your car the way you want it.This is not a dress rehearsal, you only go around once.

I think it depends on your ownership outlook. I leased mine for 2 years and didnt do a single mod cuz I knew it wasnt really mine and you never know what might happen... but at the end of 2 years, I bought it out...it was all mine... and I went nuts with mods to get it exactly how I wanted it. Im not even thinking about how much I get if I sell it...When and if I do decide to sell it, it will be on the market for the "right" buyer...wont be a rush sell...cross that bridge when I get to it ...

Besides...as this cute chick in my office said to me.."when I see regular vettes now, they seem boring compared to yours"

A stock vette is still a beautiful thing. Leave it stock if you want that is totally cool too. As you can see from the many posts, it's your car do want you want to do.

ps- oh and don't spend to much time on here if you don't want to get infected by the bug

Thank you everyone!
I have decided that the most important thing is ENJOYMENT. I am going to NCM Labor day. There I will check out what I like and don't like. I'm going to make my baby...one of a kind!

[QUOTE=vetterdstr]You can keep your car totally stock if you want to and that is ok... as for myself, I didnt buy this car for the next owner.. I bought it for me!! :

There is nothing wrong with either approach because the car is awesome in and of itself, but individualizing it is where the hobby comes in. So, is it just an awesome car to you, or an outlet for your creative juices? For me, it's not an investment, it's my alter ego and an opportunity to express myself. Besides, I would never be reading this forum if not for the lust in my heart to Mod, enhance, alter, extract more power, to go where no man has... ooops the kid in me got loose. That's the fun part, dreamin and oooohin and ahhhhin over everyone's creation and formulating your own plan.
