Default CDR and MP3 options

Guys,

I'm hoping for some advice here. As some of you may know, I have posted two or three times already about how my CD changer will not play CDR's acceptably. I know the CDR's are fine as they play in many other players with no problems. It seems I have a few options. I can try and buy a used corvette changer and hope it works better than mine(as some seem to play CDR's without problems) or I can try to have mine repaired thinking the laser may be slightly out of alignment causing regular CD's to play okay but not CDR's Or

I can go with some type of solution that will play MP3's as that will work fine too. Ideally I would like a solution that is cost effective and that will let me use the stock headunit controls and changer cable. I'm open to all suggestions. I know I could rip out the system and start from scratch, but I really don't want to bother with that. Being a stereo installer, I know the hassle and the system is good enough that I don't really want to bother yet.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

First thing you should do is change the way you are buring your CDs. There are different ways and programs to burn discs. Personally I do not know alot about that subject but I have on several occassions been able to use one type of disc in a radio and not another. You should try to change it up a little and then see what happens.
Used changers are always around. I have one sitting around..lol. You can do a MP3 player through an AUX input. You just need a GMASX or something like that to give you the input.

But thats the point, the CDR's are fine, they play in everything except the corvette. I have tried many different software packages. I'm burning on a brand new DVD burner. I guess the point is that many people are having problems and many people are having the players work fine which leads me to believe that the CDR's themselves are fine. There is too much variance in CDR burning equipment software etc for that to be an issue especially when people keep reporting the CDR's work fine in other vehicles players.

Now as far as the aux input, if I hook up an MP3 player, I need to use the controls on the MP3 player right? is there not a player where I can use the cdchanger controls? That would really be ideal.

Thanks

I have the same problem. Some CDR's, all of which were recorded exactly the same way on the same PC, play in the changer and some do not. Some that use to play in the changer no longer do.

Ther dealer suggested that I fully load the changer for some reason, but that did not help. What I did was take my cartridge and place it in another C-5 changer and it worked well. I told the dealer and they removed the changer and sent it for repair. I'm bringing it in on Thursday for a reinstall and I'll let you know if that fixed the problem.

If a CDR plays in the head unit and in other car changers there is no reason that we shouldn't insist that it play in the $600.00 option we paid for.

This is my point exactly. I think if some CDR's are playing, I have a feeling, correct me if I'm wrong, that it is probably because of where they are going in the changer. Maybe the laser can read them easier? Let us know what happens. One person seemed to have good luck with the changer being replaced. Said its not perfect but its better at least. I am willing to have mine repaired.
