Default coolant temprature

i've had my 04 c5 for less than a week and i was wondering if it's normal to have the coolant temprature of 196~198 in average. one time i was in a stop n' go traffic where i was surprised with the temprature all the way upto 216 or so... please tell me if it's normal. one more thing is that i spotted a small crack on my right side turn lamp(yellow part of it) and a piece of tape on it. i never did this so it must be from the dealer. what can i do with this problem? your experienced advice will be highly appreciated.

Your coolant temp is fine. I was in Phoenix last week and the outside temp was 109 and my coolent temp went up to 230.

It's normal.

Having an '04, you should've gotten an owner's manual with it...back in '99 they gave me one. Your question is discussed pretty clearly in it.

Get your stealership to replace the cracked turn signal housing under warranty...it's covered and don't let them try to you into thinking that it's not.

Not right but normal. I have shown Dave Hill how the C5/C6 cooling system should be designed. He said too much dinero.
