Default C4 Owner Buying A C5

Heres the skinny guys,
I am ready to trade in my clean 95 vertible for a new C5.
Checking out the deals at Kerbecks, Les Stanford Etc. etc.
With the big 11,12,13 k discounts, Im ready. Now for my question.
Do they or will they take a trade and still offer the huge discounts???
Anyone who recently purchased from them I am patietly waiting
your response. Even though I live in the midwest, I am willing to travel
for a good deal.

Yes they take your trade and still give you the discount, just don't expect very much for your trade in.

I agree. They'll want to make as much as they can on your C4. I had 2 C4's (84 & 92). Sold them to individuals first then went for the C5. Took a little longer but better off financially. But, I wasn't looking at an end of year special like you are.

I just traded my 95 copue for a low miles 99 at Classic Chevy.
Kerbeck will give you less than dirt on a trade in, even if they have the identical car on the used lot selling for twice as much.

I recently upgraded to the C5. You'll come out ahead if you sell your C4 on your own... Best of luck to you in finding the perfect C5.

Negotiate your price FIRST, then bring up you have a trade. Either way they won't give you top dollar for your car. You would be better off selling your car to a private party.

They should take a trade, but you may not get all that much for it. Better to sell it yourself if you have any time, but with the C5s production over, you may not have that luxury.

Wholesale value is the "top dollar" you can expect in any trade--unless they show you more by messing around with the new car sell price.

Four months ago I got 12g's for my '95 Z07 of 76,000 miles and 12g's off the sticker price of my '04.

Hella of deal!

PS, my Z07 immediatly found a great home with a guy nearing retirement who lives 5 miles from my home. Did my heart good.

Why don't you get your C4 up for sale now and sell it yourself. You will do better selling your car yourself regardless of the new C5 you buy.

I already have my car up for sale on the forum plus I have it listed on Car Soup.com
Very little interest at this time. I cant wait to long or the car I want will all be gone.

Well talking from recent experience with trading in a car I can tell you the dealer will give you very little on your car.

I used ebay to sell my car in 1 week for $5K more than the dealer would have offered me.

$1 to $2K I might have said ok, but $5K is a huge difference.

Default sell your C4 here on the forum

I just bought an 02 M.Y. convertible about 10 days ago in Philly, Pa over 1200 miles from my home in Mobile,Al. area. I found it here on the forum. I then listed my 96 C4 here on the C4 forum and sold it for 17K the day before yesterday. Of course I do not finace any car in a conventional way. I have an equity acount on my house and any time I buy a car I simply write a check for it. When I sell my old one I simply pay the whole proceeds check back on my equity account. Another benefit of using this method for buying a vehicle is you always have a clear title to the vehicle rather than having to deal with a lien holder. Of course you need to have considerable equity in your house to be able to do this. It also enables you to deduct any interest you pay on your car on your income taxes if you itemize. My C4 was in excellent condition and the buyers were so impressed at its appearance they bought it without even asking to drive it.

Just sold my "super clean" 94 LT-1 black on black MN6 w/ 60k miles....the dealership was going to give me $10,000????? F#$K That! I put it up on Autotrader for $18g's and got $16g's w/ in 24 hrs.....

Your 95 convertible won't yield more than $12,000 at the dealer unless it has miles in the teens.....

I agree w/ many of the posts here....sell it yourself and then negotiate your best new C5 deal ASAP....I'm sure the inventory is running low.

Good Luck!

I just traded a high milage 94 for an 04. They took almost 10K off the sticker price and gave me 8.5K for the 94. The dealer is local in PA.
