St. Catherines Engine Plant
I attending the Corvette Club of Ontario outting today at the St. Catherines engine plant in Ontario. It was an incredible experience that I will not forget, they build the Corvette engines at this plant. I got an opportunity to see close up machining of cranks, cams, rods, blocks, etc. It is a very clean facility and you can tell that there is alot of pride amongst all the employees as to the products they produce. I wanted to take pictures but it is not allowed so sorry. The LS2 engines and LS1 engines were being built. The LS1 engines are going to Australia.

There was a nice write up on that plant in one of the recent Vette mags. Did you get to see any test runs?

Yes we did see one engine dyno. The LS2 was all hooked up ready to go but they were not running it at that time.

About 369,000 per year if I remember correctly.

My car club went to the event too but I couldn't get the time off work.
That's ok though, because my cousin is one of the engine test engineers at that plant, and I can get a personal tour anytime I wish.

The GTO is made in Australia by Holden (a GM subsidiary).

Sorry you could not attend the event. This is a must see event for all gear heads! They make an excellent product and everything has to pass inspection. You should have seen the scrap blocks tossed out due to a cross thread or something meniscule. One thing I can say for sure is that these LS1, 2 and 6 engines have incredible quality built into them.
