This is my first Z (04) picked up in June with the Memory package option. I have noticed and that after stopping for Gas (took me a few fillups to make the association) and getting back in the car and putting the key back in the ignition my seat doesnt return to its position (I have the easy entry seat option enabled). I have to press the "1" button on the memory pad to return my seat to its position. I assume this has something to do with pressing the fuel door release button or something ... I assumed the memory was associated with the key being used. Is this normal behavior and an incorrect assumption on my part ?
Whenever you unlock the car with the fob it knows which number fob you used (encoded in the RF signal) to unlock the car.
If you shut the car off and get out (not locking the car with the fob) and then return later without depressing the unlock button on the fob it will leave everything the way it is (i.e. if you have the easy entry feature on the seat will stay in the fully retracted.
Bottom line is, it's operating correctly. Also, there's a third memory setting available if you press one and two together.
Your assumption is incorrect. You do have to hit the "1" on the memory pad. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with which key you use. For some reason though, I'm having a hard time getting mine to work correctly in my '04. I have mine disabled and every time I unlock the doors with the key fob, the damn seat slides back. My '02's memory seats did not do this.
Ahhh the insignificant problems we poor Corvette owners face.
Cool. I guess that makes sense now that I think about it. I guess I assumed since each key is also coded it would know those as well. I was used to the alarm setting on my T/A just by opening the door with ignition off which the vette does not do and didnt make the association that I was not unlocking the door with the fob to disable the alarm after fillups. Thanks to all for the replies.

Hey Nat, FTFM
The back of your fob has a # which corresponds to the memory setting. Use the Fob and it is the same as pushing the button

Your easy entry system is probably set to ON, go to "OPTIONS" on your gauge cluster and get to the EASY ENTRY option, and hit reset to set it to "OFF", and voila, no more seat sliding back when you unlock the doors
That's what's I can't figure out Mike. As soon as I got the car I turned off the easy entry and the seat still slides back when I use the fob. I've checked it 3 or 4 times to make sure it was still off and each time it is. Perhaps it is a malfunction.
I think after making the change you may need to press and hold the corresponding number to the fob you are using on the door panel for a few seconds to "save" the setting.
BTW: I happen to like the Easy Entry/Exit seat option enabled, just my own personal preference. My original question was really more to do with making sure the memory option is functioning as designed which it sounds like it is, just to my misinterpretation as to exactly what the design was ...
Little off subject, but i wanted to share this......although i'm sure i'm not the first to do this. I always use my #1 keyfob- and nobody else drives it. I recently set the mirrors down and inward to look directly at the rear tires (or curb when you're parking) to the #2 setting- so whenever i need to parellel park or back up to a curb, i know exactly where i am to avoid curb-rash. Just hit the #2 on the memory.....and the mirrors slide right down where i need them (sort of like on the high-end Beemers). As soon as i get back to the car (after locking when leaving, and unlocking apon entering) it recognizes my original #1 settings so everything's perfectly set again.

And you also can use driver setting 3 for a relaxed position for long cruises.
