Guys, I need your advise. I'm in the market for a car. Along comes this '01 black Z06 with a Magnacharger & lots of other goodies. It has 25K on the odometer and its in excellent shape. Bottom line price is $31.1K by the way. Problem is, my intended purpose for this car is daily transportation on the job. My job takes me on the highway to the tune of 2500 to 3000 miles a month on average. I talked to the original owner, he thinks its not the car for the job because of the cost of rubber. He claims I won't get 15K miles off the back tires which I have already priced, OUCH! He also thinks the blower will wear out at 50K miles & need an overhaul. I say highway miles shouldn't wear out the tires so fast. What do you say? Depreciation is also a factor. I looked on Ebay and couldn't find a Z06 with more than about 34K miles. Who would buy this car in 2 years with 85K or more miles on it? If my company forces me to get a company vehicle I would have to sell it IMMEDIATELY. And don't forget to throw in the 93 octane 2$ a gallon gas. One more factor, I get 37.5 cents/mile tax exempt so that comes to about $900 to $1100 a month.
Those are the reasons NOT to buy the car. On the plus side the car is beautiful, nearly flawless, and GOD AWEFUL FAST!!! My heart tells me BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT but my brain says what are you smokin dude? I know there are more practical choices but I want this car BAD!!! Am I asking for trouble or what?

I wouldn't buy a high mile supercharged car, highway miles or not. You should get something more economical like an Acura TL or a 3series BmW or the likes...
Too much money for a problem child. Get a good Z and do your own MODs. Other folks MODs are not as much fun and prone to breaking, pass on this one an keep lookiong the right Vette is there for you, this is not it.
If you don't mind spending $30,000, get a stock newer model C5. The cars are proven workhorses and should fit your purposes nicely. You'll still get the corvette feel, and the speed won't dissapoint you.
My work conditions are very similar to yours. I drive about the same mileage per month and also earn the same exact mileage too. There is no way I would want to drive a supercharged Z06 every day for my job. No way. Although it would be a great car and make the job a lot more exciting, dumping that kind of money in the gas tank every week would get old REAL fast. Find yourself a stock Z06 and buy a beater for the job. Works very well for me.
Based on the criteria you laid out, I would pass also. That car is too modified and you can't be sure of its past history. The last thing you want is an unreliable vette.
