I had to move the Corvette out of its single car special purpose garage last weekend to make room for our new kitchen cabinets that were being delivered. The car went into the driveway, was closed up and locked and covered with a Dust Shield car cover (and several coats of Zaino ). Over the time the car was in the driveway, we had several rain storms.
Yesterday, with the garage now clear of kitchen cabinets, I uncovered the Corvette and to my horror found it not only unlocked but both windows were down. I felt the floors and all seemed dry. I operated all the door electronics and everything worked fine. I couldn't figure out how the windows got open, even though I have a Window Valet installed. I asked my wife if she unlocked the car then my daughter and both professed they weren't involved in this caper.
I wanted to run the car, so my wife and I took it for a drive. I explained to her that hitting unlock three times will roll down the windows. Then she told me something that had me reeling in horror She was having trouble unlocking the latch on the garage door that morning so the installer could get in for the cabinets. She decided to use the back side of the Corvette key fob to hammer (yes I said hammer) the latch open. In doing so, she apparently hit the unlock switch three (or more) times opening the car windows.
It is very fortunate for me that the cabinet installer was ahead of schedule and that I took the car out last evening and found the open windows. Last night and today it is absolutely pouring out and my car would have been filling with water.
I can't believe she did that!!!!
Throw something at her ... OMG ..
I can not believe she did that ... i can't even describe how upset I'd be by that .. i mean, jebus find a hammer! use a kitchen fork .. but the keyfob!?
At least she didn't back it out of the garage with the driver door still open. This is what my wife did last week with the Suburban. You don't even want to know the rest.
All my friends could say was 'at least you don't let her drive the vette...'
