I recently thought to myself (which is an obvious sign I had too much time on my hands) whether or not there was a proper technique for waving. I normally do the index finger point, but many drivers who wave at me have the window down (which I do not considering it is 90+ with high humidity) and just wave out the window. Just curious. Oh yeah, don't forget "Save the Wave"

The "index finger point" is sometimes misconstrued as the worst-half of a peace-sign. Just wave like this
I've gotten the point and the open hand wave before.....as long as their is some kind of acknowledgement its cool. Some people even give a quick hit on the horn twice then wave to make sure they get your attention.
I just do an open Palm wave on top of the steering wheel when I see another Vette. My windows are limo tint, so they would never see me wave otherwise.
Also, if my window is down, I will most certainly put my hand out the window to wave.
I felt bad the other day, a C4 driver passed me and I didn't wave. the hubby looks at me and says, "WTF babe?" Honestly, I was caught off guard, as I never get a return wave from C4's and I was trying to get across four lanes of traffic at the time. So, whoever that was, I apologize and next time I see you, I will roll down my window and acknowledge! lol.

As a C4 and C5 owner I can positively state that you just confirmed some C4 owner's conviction that C5 owners are snobs who never wave !!!!! Actually, I find that most of the Vettes around here will wave, with the exception of the women drivers.
There is even a theory on the C4 Forum that C5 owners have a secret wave. When you go by one and look over to see a C5 driver with his finger up his nose, he is giving you the secret C5 wave by moving it around in there!!
Since I got my windows tinted I try to stick my hand closer to the windshield so it can be seen. Of course now I have finger prints on the inside of my windshield.
I missed returning a wave to a C4 a few weeks ago. I was messing with the radio. I noticed right when he got beside me heading in the opposite direction. He had his hand almost up against the drivers side window with his fade pressed up against in looking at me like WTF. I rolled down the window and threw him a late wave. Hopefully he saw it.
