Default Blackwing Cleaning Advice

I'm currently cleaning my Blackwing. I have rinsed it off and am letting it dry out in direct sunlight. How long should I wait before re-oiling? I was considering 24 hours but wondered if it was safe just to wait 4-6 hours. TIA!

The instructions sound as if just the opposite would be a problem.

"Shake the Blackwing Air Filter Oil aerosol. Apply an even coat of filter oil to the entire air filter surface. Make sure to cover every media pleat. Reapply filter oil to any uncovered (light or white) areas. Let the filter oil wick (or adhere) to the filter media for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not use Blackwing air filters without re-oiling."

I'd wait until the filter was completely dry. Hard to tell just how long, but in the sun probably not too long a wait. Then oil following directions on the box.

I just applied an even "bead" on each pleat. As your drive your car, the oil will get pulled over the whole area anyway. Just try and not over oil it. I mean, to the point where the oil of being sucked into the MAF. Hope this helps.

During the summertime, in sunlight, the 4-6 hours should be more than sufficient. Make sure you use the filter cleaner and oil that Donaldson recommends rather than the K&N products.
