never had this problem be4 it kinda feels like my hurst shifter isnt alligned right, i have problems getting it into reverse, it seems to not want to go into 3ed as it always pops out, and first seems to be poping out. what could the problem be
I honestly don't know what could causes the reverse problem, but I am fixin to find out pretty soon. The 3rd gear popping out or getting stuck is usually attributed to a bent shiftfork. I started having this problem after I missed a shift in a race. I am also clueless about the 1st popping out.
Your going to need a complete rebuild on the transmission.
BTW when going into reverse always put it into 1st, first. It synchronizes the shafts and you'll notice is almost becomes effortless if you follow that procedure.
I am going to tear down my tranny pretty soon to fix the issues.

If you just put the shifter in the car and this is happening then I would back the forward stop off some. It sounds like it's popping out because it's not all the way in gear. If the shifter has been in the car for a while then you have major problems. Good Luck

Adjust the stops the way the factory says to not the way you feel like and they will stop blocking your shifting. Make sure you use locktite on the stops after you do the proper adjustment, you do not want them self adjusting to no shift pattern position.
This is one of the reasons I took my bpp shifter off and went back to a cut stock setup. I can only guess that the length of the shifter below the fulcrum is slightly shorter, so it allows the shifter ball/plastic piece to "fall" out (up, really) of the collar its sitting in.

That might be the problem with the bpp (don't know never owned one), but I can assure you that is not the problem with the Hurst. Like everyone has said, it's the bump stops. If not adjusted correctly it keeps the stick from traveling far enough to engage the gear. You either have to be sure you've adjusted them correctly, or completely take them out like others have suggested. The shifter/ball plastic piece fits in perfectly and will not slip out. Like I said, that's for the Hurst, can't speak to the bpp as I never owned one.
