Default Computer bug

Recently, I dicovered a computer bug within the internal car system. This little sucker somehow made its way into everything. It activated the trunk release for no reason, the radio stayed on for ever without the the key in the ignition switch, the alarm system activated on its own, keyless remote didn't work and to made matters worse, the engine would not start. I had to call a tow truck and had my baby towed to the shop. So far nothing, all tests checked normal. Anyone with similar problems or knowledge on how to capture this little monster? Please send help.

That does not sound like a bug (bug=software problem). I'd say it's a hardware problem in the electronics. Could be as simple as a bad connection...

When you say the word "or" you are not agreeing, you are suggesting something else.

Did you install a window valet. The only other car I know of with the same symptoms had a window valet. Just wondering.

Thanks for the advise, but still no solution found yet. The tech told me that he could not find anything wrong during the tests. I asked him about possible bad ground/conection and he said everything checked okay.

After having the car back four days, its alarm self-activated again and the door ajar light went on while driving (doors were secured). Is it worth replaciing the entire comuter system $$$ or maybe just preparing for the worse (saying good-bye, I don't even want to think about it!!) Any other ideas would sure be welcome. Thank u all in advance.

Which door was ajar?
Did they check the connections at the front edge of the passenger door. They are a common problem in these cars for causing a whole host of strange electrical problems.

Do you have any mods? If so, list them for us as they are usually the culprit for these kinds of symtoms. Window valet (already mentioned), Euro tail lights, 3rd brake light flasher, etc have all been known to cause these kinds of gremlins to pop up.

Then too, it could be a bad ground!

Don't think about treplacing the modules, you would not believe the cost. GM willnot replace them unless the codes show if something is wrong. How do I know I have gone through this same thing three times. Dead battery, car won't start, etc. It did it at the dealer and when they try to run codes - nada, zippo.

Thank goodness I have had no problem since they reprogrammed the modules or what ever is reprrogrammed.

Please no advice on the meon law I do not need the info.

Best of luck

Me again, Thanks for the info.
The only thing I've done to my ride is install a power antena and tinted the windows. I'm not sure what window valet is. Can someone fill me in

Oh yeah, last year I had to reseal the windshield 'cause it was causing water to leak into the driver's side floor. I'm thinking could that be part of the problem?

What about the passenger's door. where exactly do I check for the bad conection?

I'm not sure how a window reseal would give you electrical problems, unless you shorted something. Are you sure the only electrical thing you've done to the car is install the power antenna? No Column Lock Bypass, No CAGS Defeat...nothing else?

Yeah, that's the only electrical thing I've done to it. No other mods. I'm going to take in to a different tech, to see if maybe I can get a second opition. Thanks for the feed back, I'm sure someone out there has had a similar problem (I hope).

the door connections are located inside the accordian looking piece at the front of the door. Pull the accordian piece loose and pull the two connectors out and check for any bent pins inside the connectors. Repair any that are bent and then reconnect them.
