I took my son back to college after the weekend. Since he only had a few small items , I decided to take the 04 vette. In a 240 mile round trip of 90% highway driving the car averaged 32.3 mpg. I kept the speed between 65 and 75 all the way, mostly in 6th gear. It is amazing that a car with this much power gets over 30 mpg. Hell my wifes 6 cylinder mercedes only gets 25.
Is everyone else seeing the same mpg?
Yep, I'm close to that with my '03 Mn6 vert. My neighbor has a '99 Mn6 vert and has had a couple of long highway runs over 35 mpg. He says his gas mileage continues to improve as he puts more miles on his car.
I regularly average 27 mpg with a mixture of cruising and having fun. On a recent 500 mile interstate cruise at 75 with the top down I averaged 28.6 mpg.
I averaged 32.5 MPG on my road-trip relocating from AZ to MN. It was about 1800 miles, and a good chunk was through states with "so-called" premium gas of only 90 Octane (Texas and Oklahoma suck!). I averaged 83MPH (about 1800 RPM in 6th) for most of the trip as well.
Hell, Betty (my Vette) gets better gas milage than my commuter car, a 2001 Focus ZX3 (the vette only has 3x the power and 3x the displacement too).

I'm continually amazed at the mileage these Vettes get.
From: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and

How is this possible?
I know you're talking about the great gas mileage, I averaged 29.7mpg on my drive from Chicago to Phoenix last November.
But I think the better statement that you made that fits your topic is:
"I kept the speed between 65 and 75 all the way, mostly in 6th gear."
How did you manage to keep your speed between 65 and 75? The acceleration and the sounds of the barking Corsas are just too much for me! I swear its intoxicating!
On a trip from Kansas City to Dallas right after I got my 99 vert, mn6, I got 33 mpg. I found better mileage at 85 than I did at 75. didn't have the guts to sustain it higher than that
Non corvette owners do not believe me when I tell them I drove from Concord CA to Las Vegas approx 570 miles on one tank of gas I averaged 33mpg and even took it over 100 mph for a short time twice
