Default Brake Pad Advice

Are the Raybestos Quiet Stop pads the best? How about Wagner and Delco Ceramic pads. GM Parts Direct has the Delco for $49.88 compared to ~ $90 for the Raybestos.

Thanks

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

The AC Delco ceramic pads are excellent. We have sold several thousand sets in the last few years. They are great for everyday driving up thru very spirited driving, but not recommended for the track. They will work, but Delco says you will have some brake fade and excessive pad wear under very high heat conditions like on the track. They are by far the most popular pad we sell and Delco says they are as dust free as a set of pads can be made.
We have them on special for 39.95 a set. To order you can go to our popular parts site here:http://www.corvetteforum.net/c5/kenf...rtspage1.shtml
or give us a call at 406-628-4618 or email me at parts@fichtnerchevrolet.com

I'm a Raybestos Distributor, and quite frankly, we can't touch the price of the AC Delco Ceramics. The Quiet Stops are a better pad, (postcured friction material, slotted, champfered, and shimmed,) but I don't know that they are worth double the price to 99% of us. These inexpensive ceramics have caused Raybestos to introduce a new Professional Grade Ceramic to compete on price. But today, that GM pad is hard to beat - especially when these fine forum dealers like (Bob at) Fichtner are making sure you get their best price on a set!

Bob - Your site shows $79.90 for the somplete set of ceramics. I'm guessing that by set, you mean front or back since $39.95x2 = $79.90. I bought a set from you less than a year ago for my previous Vette and paid around $140. Hard to believe the huge price drop.

If I am not mistaken he was saying that they are 39.95 for the pair (2).

The link he provided shows 79.90 for the set (4). [39.95 x 2 = 79.90]

Well worth every penny.

Easy to do. Just make sure you have a large "C" clamp or something similar to compress the pistons.

I installed Quiet Stop Pads on the rear of my 99.
They are a little pricie but they stop good, little or no brake dust and are quiet. I paid about $60.00 for mine.
